The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has confirmed the compliance timeline for the UAE’s mandatory e-Invoicing system following a joint awareness meeting with Accredited Service Providers and taxpayers on 29 September 2026. Businesses with annual revenue of AED 50 million or more must appoint an Accredited Service Provider by 30 October 2026 and begin issuing e-invoices by 1 January 2027, while businesses below that threshold have until 31 March 2027 to appoint a provider and must implement e-Invoicing by 1 July 2027. The announcement affects all UAE taxable persons within scope of the system.
What has changed
- Large taxpayers (AED 50 million or more in revenue) must appoint an Accredited Service Provider by 30 October 2026
- Large taxpayers must go live with e-Invoicing by 1 January 2027
- Smaller taxpayers (under AED 50 million) must appoint a provider by 31 March 2027
- Smaller taxpayers must go live with e-Invoicing by 1 July 2027
- The system is administered jointly by the Ministry of Finance and the FTA through a structured electronic exchange framework
Who is affected
This requirement applies to all UAE businesses within scope of the e-Invoicing system, segmented by annual revenue: those with AED 50 million or more in revenue fall under the earlier timeline, while those below that threshold have a later compliance window. Accredited Service Providers, who facilitate the exchange of e-invoices between businesses and the FTA, are also directly affected.
What businesses should do
Businesses with revenue of AED 50 million or more should select and appoint an Accredited Service Provider before 30 October 2026 and prepare their invoicing and accounting systems to issue e-invoices from 1 January 2027. Businesses below that threshold should begin provider selection well ahead of the 31 March 2027 deadline to be ready for the 1 July 2027 go-live. All businesses should review current invoicing workflows against the structured e-Invoicing data requirements.
