Staying ahead of UAE regulatory change matters for every business setup, tax, residency, and banking decision. Here is what changed this week.

1. Central Bank Law transition deadline: 16 September 2026

Federal Decree-Law No. 6 of 2025 consolidated banks, insurers, payment providers, and fintech/virtual-asset firms under a single Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) framework. The one-year transition window given to affected entities to regularise licensing and compliance closed this month, with no general extension announced. Any business with lending, payments, insurance, or crypto-adjacent activity should confirm its licensing position immediately.

2. Corporate Tax filing deadline: 30 September 2026

The Federal Tax Authority has urged all Taxable Persons whose financial year ended 31 December 2025 to file their Corporate Tax Returns and pay any tax due no later than 30 September 2026. This also applies to businesses on Small Business Relief, which must still file simplified returns within the same statutory window. Filing and payment are handled through the EmaraTax platform, directly or via an approved Tax Agent.

3. Golden Visa eligibility keeps widening

2026 reforms added nurses, teachers, e-sports professionals, game developers, digital content creators, and approved Waqf (endowment) donors to the Golden Visa qualifying categories, each routed through a designated nominating authority. Family-sponsorship rules were also relaxed, removing the age cap on sponsored children and extending the 10-year permit to spouses. GDRFA Dubai has rolled out an AI-driven renewal system completing approvals in minutes rather than days.
